Dominique's favorite band was in the middle of their set and she was on her way out the door. Her fingers gripped the leather gauntlet on her left wrist tugging on it slightly, making certain that the item that she had hidden it in was in easy reach. It was the only real place to conceal anything, as neither her black corset nor slim fitting black pants left room. She pushed the door of the nightclub open with enough force that it banged against the wall. One of the bouncers call after her, but she paid him no mind. She had more pressing matters at the moment. She was trying to loose someone; a guy that had been watching her for the last twenty minutes. There was something off about him and he was making her incredibly uneasy. Black booted feet hit the stairs almost silently as she descended to the ground floor of the building and throwing open another door, she found herself on a street that was nearly vacant, save for the a tall thin guy that stood at the end of the block, wearing the same jacket as the guy that was in the nightclub. Shit. She thought, as she heard the door swing open behind her. She looked across the street and saw another a younger guy wearing the same jacket. Damn. Looking around, she saw the dark side alley between the two buildings and had the uneasy feeling that she was being herded there. Dark green eyes quickly scanned the area, and soon fell upon a fire escape, next to a dumpster. If she could make it to the fire escape, she might be able to escape that way. And so, she dropped back to the alley, letting them think that they had the upper hand. She had nearly reached the dumpster when she heard one of them call out to her. And she turned to face them.

"Problem?" She asked, instinctively falling back into a defensive position.

"Yeah, we've got a problem." The one that had been watching her in the nightclub said. "My little brother tells me you got him in trouble at school."

As he stepped forward, so did a kid that was around her age. She recognized the younger one now. "No, your little brother got himself in trouble at school, by bullying an twelve year old kid."

"Not the way I hear it." the older brother said. "He says, you stuck your nose in."

"Actually, I stuck my fist in, that's how he got that shiner." She retorted with a smirk, even though she knew it wasn't a good idea.

The older boy looked at his younger brother with a look of disgust on his face. The younger boy shrank back, and for a moment, Dominique thought that maybe, just maybe, the older one might redirect his anger at him. Unfortunately, that was not the case. He simply spout off that he'd deal with him later, then looked back at her. "Smart mouth girly, think you need to learn when to shut it." he said as he pulled a pipe from his jacket.

"Oh you really don't want to do this." False bravado filling her words.

"And why is that?" He smirked as he brought the pipe came down against the palm hand.

"Two on one...not fair odds. For you." she took a half step back, towards the dumpster.

"Who said that there were only two of us." He said as the tall thin guy who had been standing at the end of the block was joined by a shorter, rounder guy. Both wearing the same jackets.

"Okay, so now maybe we're even." she said as she took another step backwards towards the dumpster, then quickly glanced over her shoulder as she heard footsteps. A rather serious frown settled upon her face as she spotted two more guys coming from the other end of the alley. "And now, the odds are in your favor..." her eyes darted to the fire escape, before returning to the leader of this little gang. If she timed it just right she might be able to reach the fire escape before they could lay a hand on her. Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted as someone dropped down from above and landed just a few feet in front of her. Her eyes widened in surprise as they fell upon something that wasn't human. She blinked, then blinked again, as she realized that standing just a few feet away from her was a large, muscular, humanoid turtle.

"Then how about..." a voice that belonged to the giant turtle began. "I help even the odds." He grinned at her, then turned to the others and drew two sais from a belt around his waist.

"You freaks again." The leader spat at the turtle. And suddenly he began looking around. He almost looked scared. "Where are the others?"

"It's just me..." his grin grew darker then.

The leader chuckled. "You really think you can beat all of us, by yourself?"

"Yes...." the word slipped from his mouth as he leapt to the air and took the first one down with a kick to the head. The second fell as he hit him in the back of the head with the end of the handle of his sai. "Two down..."  He turned glaring at the leader who sent the two remaining members of his gang at him.

Movement from just off to the left drew her attention, and she turned her head just in time to see the boy that she had confronted in school a few days ago, turn on his heel and run from the alley; leaving his older brother alone. The sound of a loud thud drew her attention, and looking back, she found that the other two were laying on the ground unconscious. The large turtle was standing over them. “You're turn." He smirked as he pointed his weapon at the leader of the fallen gang.

The leader of the gang looked from the turtle who blocked his way, to the girl that stood near him, then made a move to grab her by the wrist. However, he soon discovered that his intended target was not an easy mark. Dominique surprised him by turning ever so slightly and using the momentum to pull her wrist free. A moment later she brought down her steel toed boot against his knee, and as he dropped to his knees in agony, she finished him off with a well placed roundhouse kick that dropped him to the ground.

"Woah. Nice moves." the voice came from behind her, and she turned to find herself face to face with a walking, talking turtle. "You alright?" he asked.

She only nodded. Large green eyes staring at him not entirely certain that she was really believing what she was seeing.

"Okay, you're freaked, I'll go." he said, then turned to go.

"Wait." she found her voice suddenly. Her dark green eyes left him and moved to the unconscious gang members on the ground, then returned him to.
Regardless of what he was, he had done something that very few would have. He had placed himself in real danger to protect a complete stranger. And for that, she was incredibly grateful. Meeting his gaze, a soft smile touched her lips. “Thanks...um." she let the words hang in the air, hoping that he would give her a name.

"Raphael." he said quietly, rather surprised that he was actually being thanked.

"Dominique." she managed a small smile for him, then offered him her hand.

He looked at it a moment, then took it, holding it a moment before he let go. "So why were the Purple Dragons after you?" he folded his arms across his chest, and eyed her curiously.

She gave him a sheepish look. "That one," She nodded indicating the leader that was laying near her feet. "his brother was picking on a twelve year old kid at school, and I kind of, sort of gave him a black eye."

Raphael smirked. "You certainly know how to pick a fight."

"I wasn't picking a fight," She said defensively. "I was just, standing up for someone who couldn't stand up for themselves."

At that Raphael grinned. He was rather amused that this slip of a girl had stood up to a much bigger guy. However, his amusement was short lived, as he realized that her good deed had put her in danger. He might have to keep an eye on her. "You need a ride home?"

She blinked, then blinked again. "You have a car?"

He chuckled. "No, a bike. It's behind the building." He held out his hand. “Well?"

Dominique eyed him carefully. "Uh...sure..." she said softly as she reached out to take the offered hand, however hand fell just short of his as she heard a groan come from behind her. Her eyes left him and traveled to the gang members that lay on the ground. "I can't." a soft frown touched her lips as she looked back at him. “I need to call the police. I need to make sure these guys get put away, because if they hurt someone else, I'd never forgive myself." She explained, then removed a cell phone from a hidden pocket in her wrist gauntlet. She had started to dial the number, when she stopped suddenly and looked at him. "Can you stay? Just in case these guys wake up before the police get here?"

"I can't, I'm not suppose to be seen." he explained.

"Oh...right... okay. It's alright. I understand why you have to go." After all, a walking, talking turtle wasn't exactly something people saw everyday, and she was fairly certain that some mad scientist would love to get their hands on him. The thought made her brow furrow and a rather serious frown settled upon her face. Feeling his eyes on her, she forced a small smile, not wanting him to feel badly about having to leave.

Damn it! I can't leave her. He thought. "I'll stay. But you won't be able to see me."

"Thanks." a warm smile, one that reached her eyes, found it's way to her face as she met his gaze. She quickly dialed 911 and explained the state of her emergency. She had turned away for only a moment to make certain that the guys that had attacked her were still unconscious, however, when she looked back he was gone. "Raphael?" she called softly after she hung up the phone.

"What?" his voice came from behind her.

Her eyes widened as she turned and found him standing there grinning. "Don't do that."
He laughed out loud. Rather amused by the expression that had crossed her face. "Sorry," his tone revealed that he really wasn't. At least, not completely. Watching her, he eyed her curiously as she replaced the phone and pulled something else from the leather gauntlet.

Dominique was watching him closely, trying to discern something about him. "Give me your hand." she said as she removed the cap from a mini permanent ink marker.

"What, you going to give me a tattoo?" he snickered. But held out his hand anyway.

Taking his hand, she stepped forward, and pressed the tip of the marker against his arm just below where his wrist was wrapped. "It won't sweat off easily here." Finishing, she let go of his hand and took a step back as she capped the marker.

Raphael eyes widened ever so slightly as he saw her name and a phone number. Lifting his head to look at her, he gave her a questioning look.

The distance sounds of sirens filled the early morning air, distracting them both for a moment. Dominique was the first to speak. "Call me tomorrow after six. I'll just be getting off work then, and can meet you somewhere to talk. If you want, I mean." She said, then added. "I'll even bring food." It was a bold thing for her to do, however, her curiosity had gotten the better of her. Plus, she really would like the opportunity to thank him for what he had done. And while buying him dinner could not really repay him, at least, it was a start.

"Alright." He said, a small grin forming on his face as his emerald green eyes met her gaze. He watched her a moment as she turned to look towards the end of the alley as the sounds of tires screeching drew her attention, before he moved silently to the shadows.
As two police officers came around the corner, she cast a glance over her shoulder, finding the alley way empty, she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Are you alright miss? What happened here?" One of officers asked as he approached her. The other was standing near the body of one of the unconscious gang members looking rather perplexed.

Time to get creative with the truth, she thought, as she started to give her statement to the officer that was leading her towards his police car.
